Nigeria records 24.23 per cent increase in road crashes in Q4 2023

 


The National Bureau of Statistics has said that a total of one thousand three hundred and twenty-three Nigerians were killed in road accidents in the fourth quarter of 2023.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria, this was revealed in the NBS Road Transport Data Q4 2023 Report released in Abuja.

The report said the total road accidents recorded in the fourth quarter of 2023 were 2,717 which represented an increase of 24.23 per cent from the 2,187 recorded in the third quarter of the same year.

It however said on a year-on-year basis, traffic accidents decreased by 33.12 per cent from 3,617 recorded in the Q4 of 2022.

On zonal analysis, the report revealed that the North-Central recorded the highest number of accidents in the Q4 2023 with 905, followed by the South-West with 650, while the South-South recorded the least with 141.
