Government urged to include women living with HIV in programmes


The Association of Women Living with HIV and AIDS in Nigeria, Kaduna State Chapter, has called on both the federal and state governments to include women living with HIV in programmes such as social investment fund, conditional cash transfer, palliative and job creation.

The State Coordinator of the Association, Mrs. Asabe Luka Madaki stated this during an event organized to commemorate this year's International Women’s Day held in Kaduna.

The State Coordinator of the Association Mrs. Asabe Luka Madaki, said the call become necessary considering the fact that out of one point six million people living with HIV in Nigeria, fifty-six percent are women who deserve to live a decent and productive life.

In a remark, Juliana Mohammed of Center for Integrated Health Programmes, urged the women living with HIV to work hard for the betterment of their live.

Also speaking the representative of the Executive Secretary, Kaduna State Aids Control Agency, Dr Sa’eed Zakariyya Muhmmad, pledged the Agency’s readiness to continue to support people living with HIV especially women and children.
