The Senate has announced the replacement of Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume (APC, Borno South) with Senator Mohammed Monguno from Borno North as Majority Chief Whip.
The decision which was endorsed by Senators present at plenary through a voice vote followed the earlier demand by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to Senator Ndume to resign his position as the Principal Officer of the 10th Senate.
The APC made the demand in a letter sent to Senate President Godswill Akpabio, which was read on the floor of the upper legislative chamber on Wednesday.
It could be recalled that Ndume came under attacks from both the Presidency and ruling APC following his criticism of President Bola Tinubu’s style of leadership against the backdrop of the prevailing state of the nation.
