The Peoples’ Democratic Party in Adamawa State has won all the twenty-one chairmanship seats in the Local Government election conducted on Saturday.
News Agency of Nigeria reported that the Chairman of the Adamawa State Independent Electoral Commission, Alhaji Mohammed Umar, announced the results in Yola.
The election followed the judgment of the Supreme Court, which affirmed local government autonomy, asking the Federation Account Allocation Committee to withhold funds meant for Local Governments without democratically elected officials.
Reeling out the results of the Adamawa LG election, Umar said for councillorship positions, the PDP also won 225 seats while the New Nigeria People’s Party won one seat in Demsa ward in Demsa Local Government Area of the state.
He further said that the commission would issue their certificates of return today.
