Defence Headquarters has said that the armed forces would not support any unconstitutional change to the country’s democratically elected government.
This was contained in a statement providing a report on ongoing military operations by the Armed Forces of Nigeria and other security agencies in various theatres of operations across the country.
The statement which was made available to Defence Correspondents in Abuja, declared that the military would work with other security forces in tackling all the security challenges confronting the nation.
It stated that the armed forces are ready as a formidable force to address the emerging threats confronting the nation, particularly those arising from the prevailing issues of protests in the country that have taken a violent dimension.
The statement also stressed that the military is standing firm and resolute in preserving the nation’s hard-earned democracy and opposes any form of unconstitutional change of government.
