Kaduna state govt warns against unverified processions


Kaduna Security Council has warned that criminals disguising themselves as protesters will not get a chance to unleash terror and loot property.

A statement by the Overseeing Commissioner, Kaduna State Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, said unverified processions are not permitted in the state for reasons of public safety and security.

The statement stated that the Kaduna State Security Council under the leadership of Governor Uba Sani, has reviewed the present security situation arising from the existing six o’clock in the evening to eight o’clock in the morning curfew, and other issues about public safety.

It further stated that the Kaduna State Security Council recognizes the fundamental rights of citizens to freedom of expression, lawful assembly and other constitutional rights enshrined in the 1999 Constitution as amended.”

The statement however said that the security forces cannot permit a situation where criminals masquerade as protesters to loot and vandalize public and private property.
