LG elections; Kaduna SIECOM collaborates INEC


In a move to ensure the successful conduct of the October nineteenth local government council’s election in the state, Kaduna State Independent Electoral Commission, SIECOM has sought the support of the Independent National Electoral, Commission, INEC. 

Chairperson of the commission, Hajara Muhammad stated this when she received in audience, the Kaduna state INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner, Aminu Idris Kasim and his team in her office in Kaduna.

She said seeking support from the National Electoral umpire became necessary as the state electoral body cannot conduct the polls alone.

Hajara Muhammad said every voter is entitled to exercise his franchise equally with others and to have his or her vote accorded equivalent weight to that of others.

She assured concerned parties that the commission was ready to conduct the elections on the set date.

While assuring political parties of justice and fairness in the conduct of local elections, the SIECOM chairperson emphasized the need for stakeholders to deepen internal democracy to achieve the set objectives.

She thanked the INEC resident electoral Commissioner for the visit which she described as a morale booster to the commission.

On his part, the Kaduna state INEC resident electoral commissioner, Aminu Idris Kasim said the purpose of the visit, is to show solidarity to the commission as it intensifies preparation for the forthcoming local government council elections.
