NACA urges preventive measure against Mpox

Nigerians have been urged to take preventive measures against the rising threat of Mpox, particularly those living with HIV.

The Director General, National Agency for the Control of AIDS, Temitope Ilori, said this in a statement issued by the agency’s Head of Public Relations and Protocol, Toyin Aderibigbe.

Ilori emphasised the heightened risk faced by people living with HIV, stating, noting that while anyone can contract Mpox, individuals with compromised immune systems, such as those living with HIV, may experience more severe symptoms.

While noting that the call is in line with its commitment to the health and safety of Nigerians, the NACA boss said the agency is actively monitoring the situation and working closely with public health authorities to ensure that adequate resources and information are available.

Dr Ilori advised the public to remain vigilant and informed, underscoring the importance of early detection and treatment.
