Troops receive 44 repentant terrorists, recovers weapons


Troops of the Nigerian Army have neutralized five terrorists and received forty-four repentant terrorists and their families in Borno State.

A statement by the Nigerian Army on its official social media handle, which revealed this also said troops conducted raid operation on an identified Islamic West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists’ enclave in the Bama local government area of Borno State where they killed five terrorists.

 It said the troops recovered two Rocket Propel Gun (RPG) Bombs, two Dane guns, one RPG Bomb Charger, one AK-47 Rifle Magazine, 23 rounds of 7.62 x 54mm ammunition, six motorcycles and assorted medications.

The troops also arrested a wanted notorious cattle rustler in Plateau and a suspected arms supplier in Oyo state.

The statement explained that following a sustained offensive operation against terrorist groups in the North-East theatre, “44 Boko Haram terrorists and their families have also surrendered to troops deployed at Bama, Dikwa and Gwoza local government areas of Borno State”.

Furthermore, in Bayelsa State, troops conducted raid operations into suspected criminal hideouts in Korokorosie Community of Southern Ijaw local government area where they arrested one Donald Emason and recovered one Revolver pistol and two locally fabricated guns concealed by the suspect.

In a similar operation, troops deployed at Akinyele local government area of Oyo State, arrested a suspected gun runner, Mohammed Bello, 33 years.

The statement said the suspect, who was picked up from his hideout, testified to be one of the couriers supplying arms and ammunition to Bello Chikidawoje’s kidnap syndicate operating in the general area.
