Sokoto state govt vows to hold credible LG elections


Sokoto state government has assured of commitment to conduct a free, fair, and credible Local Government elections in all the twenty-three local government areas.

The State Governor, Ahmed Aliyu who gave the assurance while addressing a large crowd of APC supporters from eight local governments in the Sokoto East Senatorial Zone for the flag-off of the APC campaign, urged the Peoples Democratic Party to reconsider its decision to boycott the forthcoming local government polls, scheduled for 21 September 2024.

He assured the opposition in the state that SIEC, under his administration, would conduct free, fair, and credible local government elections.

Also speaking, the APC leader in the state, Senator Aliyu Wamakko, described politics as a service to the people and commended Governor Aliyu for transforming the state within just one year.

In his remarks, the state Deputy Governor, Idris Gobir, assured the people of Sokoto East that the present administration is working tirelessly to end banditry in the zone.

According to him, the state government is introducing more measures to ensure the safety and security of the state, appealing for further support from well-meaning citizens in this regard.
