United Nations General Assembly approves blueprint on security challenges

21st century challenges

The United Nations General Assembly has approved a blueprint to bring the world’s increasingly divided nations together to tackle twenty-first century challenges.

The challenges ranges from climate change and artificial intelligence to escalating conflicts and increasing inequality and poverty.

United Nations Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres said the 42-page “Pact for the Future” challenges leaders of the one hundred and ninety-three United Nations member nations to turn promises into real actions that make a difference to the lives of the world’s more than eight billion people.

The pact was adopted at the opening of the two-day “Summit of the Future” called by United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.

Guterres singled out a number of key provisions in the Pact of the Future and two accompanying annexes which are a Global Digital Compact and Declaration on Future Generations.
