Women mediators in Kaduna receive training


A one-day conflict resolution workshop on enhancing understanding and practical application of methods for women peace-builders has opened in Kaduna state.

The Kaduna State Multi-door Courthouse in collaboration with a non-governmental organisation organised the event calling for more women participation in conflict resolution activities for peaceful society.

In a paper presented on alternative dispute resolution, the Director, Center for Kaduna State Multi-door Courthouse, Mrs Docas Daniel, explained that for a successful conflict resolution, a mediator needs to have techniques and skills that can help in promoting harmonious living.

The director said the introduction of women mediators in Kaduna, would reduce the issues of conflict and disagreement of any kind within communities across the state.

Also in a paper presentation, the Deputy Director, Alternative Dispute Resolution Center, Kaduna state, Hajiya Sa'adatu Hama, educated the participants on the importance of effective communication on the mediation work.

She noted that effective communication helps in conveying ideas clearly and build connection that can lead to resolution.

In a remark, the programme manager of the foundation, Dr. Salaudeen Hashim, said the training workshop was prompted by the increasing rate of misunderstanding and provocation among communities.

He further advised the women mediators to listen to different resource persons on how to improve their skills for professional mediation.
