The newly elected Local Government Council Chairmen in Kaduna State have been charged to be transparent and accountable in handling the funds to be entrusted to them.
Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani gave the charge during the swearing-in ceremony of the Chairmen held at the Council Chambers of Sir Kashim Ibrahim House, Kaduna.
He said their ascension of office at a time when the local government received their financial autonomy necessitates the need to be fair, accessible and responsive in discharging their responsibilities to bring about development at the grassroots.
The Governor advised the Chairmen to strive hard and develop their communities through provision of infrastructure, boosting of agriculture, health and education Sectors.
Speaking in an interview shortly after the event, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas congratulated the new chairmen, assuring that the National Assembly will closely monitor their spendings.
