Makarfi Local Government Council flags off free Cholera drugs distribution

In a move to fight cholera, Makarfi Local Government Council has flagged off the distribution of free drugs to the people of the area.

The Chairman of the council, Garba Muhammad Sabon Gari unveiled the drugs at the Primary healthcare centre of Tudun Wada ward of the local government.

Speaking during the launch of the drugs distribution, the chairman of Makarfi Local Government, Garba Muhammad Sabon Gari said his administration will execute more projects aimed at improving the welfare of the people not only on health matters.

He expressed satisfaction over the work done by the health department of the local government especially in terms of contact tracing which led to the discovery of cholera and the steps taken to control it.

Also speaking, the health secretary of Makarfi, Mallam Aliyu Alhassan explained that cholera is a contagious disease that is affecting the people of the area, hence the distribution of the drugs.

In a remark, the Assistant health secretary, Makarfi Local Government, Mallam Atiku Musa said test results showed that the local government has twenty-seven people who have contracted the disease, with one casualty.

He called on the local government council to provide more testing kits and chlorine to further sanitise the environment. 

In a goodwill message, the district head of Makarfi Adamu Abdullahi, represented by Sarkin Makarfi, called on the people to practice more personal and environmental hygiene to avoid contracting the disease.
