ACF seeks probe and compensation for Sokoto airstrike incident

ACF

The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has called for a probe into the attack and the compensation of the victims of the military airstrike in Silame community in Sokoto state.

In a statement by the ACF National Publicity Secretary, Professor Tukur Muhammad-Baba, who stated this in Kaduna on Monday while condemning the unfortunate incident, described the attack as "one mistake too many.”

It said the attack which resulted in the deaths of 10 persons and injured several others was not an isolated incident, as the memories of similar cases on Tudun Biri community, Kaduna State, about a year ago, and earlier in Adamawa and Nasarawa states remain fresh in the memory.

It could be recalled that the Defence Headquarters had earlier revealed that the incident was caused by a secondary explosion resulting from the airstrike as against the notion that it was the military airstrike that was directly responsible for the casualties recorded.

The pan-northern socio-political organisation however applauded the prompt response of the Sokoto State Government to the attack, particularly the visit by the state Governor to the affected community.
