Oyo state govt backs NEC stance on President Tinubu tax bill

The Oyo State government has expressed its support for the National Economic Council's recommendation that the President Tinubu tax bills be withdrawn for further consultation.

Special Adviser on Media to the Oyo State Governor, Sulaimon Olanrewaju, revealed that the state government is in complete support of the National Economic Council's stance regarding the tax bills.

He said although he is not certain whether the bill will affect the payment of salaries of civil servants or not, he however recalled that the NEC at its meeting advised the President to withdraw the bills and allow for more discussions and consultations.

Olanrewaju explained that the past and current governors were there, noting that the Oyo state Governor, Seyi Makinde, was the one that read the position of the council. 

The Oyo state spokesman further buttressed that the position of the State government is that the bill should be subjected to further consultations.
