Widows in Kaduna State have received a rent and business grants of N100,000 to help improve their living condition.

The initiative was organized by Women’s Right Advancement and Protection Alternative (WRAPA) supported by Modern Shelter, where fifteen widows were awarded cheques during a brief ceremony in Kaduna.

Senior Program Officer WRAPA, Habiba Ahmed, said WRAPA identified widows to benefit from the initiative because losing a benefactor can be very traumatic and trying for women and children in the present economic situation.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Fatima Salisu, a mother of six from Igabi Local Government Area, who lost her husband a year ago, expressed gratitude to the sponsors of the initiative, noting that most widows find it hard to fend for their children after the death of the family breadwinner.
