Kaduna State government has restated its commitment to fostering a balanced approach that will integrates AI with human capacity, ensuring both progress and inclusivity in the educational sector.
The State commissioner for Education, Professor Muhammad Sani Bello stated this at a press briefing on the event of commemorating this year's International Day of Education at the ministry.
Aimed at highlighting the state government commitment to AI in Education, protecting human agency and policy advancements, the event also focused on the theme of this year’s celebration, which challenges people to embrace technological advancements while safeguarding human engagement and autonomy in educational settings.
Speaking on the importance of AI, the commissioner highlighted the need to strike a balance between the benefits of AI and the preservation of human agency.
While highlighting the challenges and risk of AI, the commissioner underscored the need for retraining and upskilling programs to help workers transit into newer roles within the evolving job market.
Professor Sani further urged teachers and students to embrace AI as a tool for learning, not as a crutch.
Responding to questions, Professor Sani noted that AI should be used to enhance human potential, not replace it, by automating repetitive tasks and providing personalized learning experiences while leaving room for human interaction, collaboration, and mentorship.
