The newly established Federal Medical Centre, FMC, Kafanchan, in Jema’a local government areas of Kaduna State, is set to commence full operations by September this year.
Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Professor Muhammad Pate, announced this timeline to journalists following his inspection of the Sir Patrick Ibrahim Yakowa Memorial Hospital, which is being prepared for its transition to federal management.
The visit, by the minister who was represented by the Director of Health Services, in the Ministry Dr. Salaudeen, was to evaluate the hospital’s infrastructure, assess its personnel, and identify necessary upgrades to ensure it meets Federal Medical Centre standards.
He confirmed that the current hospital personnel will have the opportunity to retain their positions through a first-refusal option for transitioning into federal employment, ensuring stability for those dedicated to serving the community.
Also speaking, the Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Health Care Services Dr. Amos Gwamna Magaji, expressed deep gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the unwavering support in making this vision a reality.
