Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have intercepted cocaine hidden in prayer beads and locally-made shoes.
NDLEA’s Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, who revealed this in a statement posted on social media, said the drug peddler was intercepted while attempting to smuggle the illicit drug into the Holy Land.
It expressed worry that while the holy month is supposed to be a moment for people to reflect on their wrongdoings and amend their relationship with God, some persons are preoccupied with concealing cocaine in prayer beads and locally-made shoes to desecrate the precincts of the holy land in the holy month.
The statement appreciated the dedication of the officers and men of the agency and for ensuring such evil acts did not occur as such action gives the nation a bad name in the international sphere.
