FG, Katsina state govt moves to address Maternal and Neonatal death rates


The Federal Government, in collaboration with the Katsina State Government, has initiated efforts to address the high rate of maternal and neonatal deaths affecting 15 out of the 34 Local Government Areas in the State.  

This collaboration has introduced the Maternal and Neonatal Mortality Reduction Innovation Initiative (MAMII). 

Speaking at the activation program in Katsina, the National Coordinator of the Sector Wide Coordination Office in Abuja, Dr. Muntaqa Sadiq, highlighted that Katsina State has the highest number of maternal and neonatal deaths across 15 local government areas.  

Represented by Mr. Omoruyi Iyahen, Sadiq explained that launching the MAMII program would substantially reduce the alarming maternal and neonatal death rates.  

In her remarks, the wife of Katsina State Governor, Zulaihat Dikko Radda, expressed her concern over the disturbing statistics and realities of maternal and neonatal deaths in the State.
