Gov. Uba Sani releases N3.8b for payment of retirees benefits

To ensure the efficient disbursement of gratuities, death benefits and accrued rights in the Contributory Pension Scheme, the Kaduna state Governor, Senator Uba Sani  has ordered the release of N3.8 billion to the Kaduna State Pension Bureau.

The Chief Press Secretary to the state Governor, Ibraheem Musa, who revealed this in a statement said the decision followed the considering of the pleas of pensioners and families of deceased civil servants, who complained that the ongoing verification exercise in the state has impacted their lives negatively.

While reaffirming the state government's resolve to weed out ghost pensioners from the state's payroll, the statement said Governor Uba Sani had however ordered the Pension Bureau to immediately commence the payment of pensioners.

It assured pensioners of the governor's unwavering commitment to their welfare, noting that the senior citizens had devoted their lives to the service of Kaduna State and must be given all the needed  support  to make them happy in retirement.

According to the statement, the Governor further assured of the speedy completion of the verification exercise, so that Kaduna State pensioners can enjoy uninterrupted payment. 

The Governor thanked the pensioners for their patience, understanding and continued support to his administration, pointing that since assuming office in May 2023, his administration has paid gratuities, death benefits and accrued rights to the tune of N6.6 billion.
