The Sokoto State Government has unveiled a campaign to tackle the recent meningitis outbreak that has affected more than three hundred people across the state.
Speaking at a one-day state-level sensitization event, the State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Faruku Abubakar Wurno said swift intervention is already yielding results.
Dr. Abubakar Wurno explained that while over three hundred cases were recorded, only sixteen patients remain hospitalised, with the rest successfully treated and discharged.
The Sokoto State Commissioner of Health further explained that the campaign is spearheaded by the state Ward Development Committee Forum in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and the State Primary Healthcare Development Agency.
Dr. Abubakar Wurno said the initiative reflects the state’s renewed commitment to community health education and outbreak prevention.
